Exotic states of matter
There
are many other states of matter besides liquid, solid, gas, and plasma.
Superconductive material
A superconducting material is
one that does not have any electrical resistance, meaning that the material's
electrical conductivity increases to a great extent. The superconductor
material has a certain temperature limit (critical temperature), below which
this change occurs. This point is usually close to absolute zero.
Bose-Einstein condensate
Bosons include photons, gluons, and Higgs bosons. When boson particles are cooled to very low temperatures at
very low densities, they begin to exhibit large-scale quantum mechanical
effects.
Time crystals
In a conventional crystal solid,
the molecules are arranged in a periodic pattern. However, the molecules of the
periodic crystal are arranged in a time-distant pattern. Particles are in
constant motion, continuing the same periodic motions without dissipating
energy.
