What is the Sound barrier?
The Sound
barrier is the speed with which a body has to travel faster than the speed of Sound.
The speed of Sound
is often used as a reference for measuring the speed of an airplane. The speed
of Sound
at zero degrees Celsius is 331 meters per second Mach - 1 (Mach 1). Doubling the
speed of Sound
is called Mach-2 (Mach 2) while tripling the speed of Sound
is reached Mach 3.
What is a sonic boom?
A
sonic boom occurs when a body travels faster than the speed of Sound. A Boom creates when A body travels faster than the speed of Sound,
such as; It is caused by supersonic aircraft. The Sound
waves collide, causing them to create a shock wave, which travels through the atmosphere and hits a person's ears, creating a boom. A
sonic boom is not a transient phenomenon caused by an aircraft breaking the Sound
barrier, but rather a continuous Sound
produced by an aircraft traveling at such a speed that the shock wave of the
aircraft travels with so we can only hear it when the plane is in one place.
All bodies whose velocity exceeds the speed of Sound
will produce a sonic boom, for example; Missiles and bullets that travel faster
than air resistance create sonic booms as they travel through the atmosphere.
